Recently, I had the opportunity of being invited by Cognitive SEO to review their link management tool. It’s in beta phase and I assumed that it would function somewhat like Raventools. Cognitive SEO tells me that their SEO toolkit is unique and a new development in the area of link management. Yahoo Site Explorer has raised the white flag. Bye, old friend. What now? Well, we look for other alternatives of course! It would be so good if we could get free Yahoo Site Explorer alternatives, since YSE is free. So I looked up some of the free backlink checking tools out there and I’ve listed some of them down. But first, a little scrutiny over Bing.
Looking around the net for a Yahoo Site Explorer Alternative made me stumble upon a lot of different backlink-checking tool. There were some good ones, there were some bad ones, and then there was SEO Spyglass – which I thought is the closest I can get to retrieve the glory that Yahoo Site Explorer basked me with. I was badly mistaken.

Quick Answer: This is one of the basic uses of this tool. Simply direct the program to your homepage, check the “Skip External” option, and run it. It will then provide a report, which indicates any broken links. You can also export this report into Microsoft Excel by clicking “File,” then “Export to TAB separated file…”
When you’ve just published a new article or product and you want it to spread around the internet like wildfire to bring in some traffic, it gets a little bit frustrating seeing how little retweets you’re getting with your TweetMeMe button.
Instead of making your retweet button say something about the greatness of your site and content, it spells out ‘crap content’ when you get a big fat zero for your number of retweets. And it can just hurt the writer and marketer in you. It’s frustrating, I know. I’ve been there.
