Wanting to generate more sales for your business?
Appearing at the top of Google’s search results by using the latest SEO tactics can transform your website from being lost in a sea of cyberspace, to sitting pretty much at the top of Google’s search results!
Not sure how to get there yourself?
Lucky for you, we are here to help you achieve this, and more!
So let’s get started…
1.) Send some link revival to your less successful pages
It is common knowledge that nobody ever really looks past the first page of the Google search results.
If your pages are found past the second page of search terms, it is most definitely time to time to give them a boost.
The most effective SEO tactic to achieve this is through internal linking.
Here are the steps to follow:
Step 1: Use Search Console to find which are your lowest ranking pages
This includes pages past page 2 of Google’s search results. In other words, those ranked with an average search position between 11-30.
Step 2: Use Ahrefs to find your highest ranking page
Ahrefs is the best way to locate pages on your site which will pass the most authority to the pages lower down in the search results.
Simply type your domain into the ‘site explorer’ section and hit enter.
Following this, find your most authoritative pages by clicking the ‘Best By Links’ section.
Step 3: Finally, Insert links from your most authoritative page(s) to your landing pages in need of a boost!
2.) Be one step ahead of your competitors
Having the best keywords is undoubtedly one of the most important SEO tactics. However, as well as the usual approach of researching keywords yourself on sites such as Ahrefs or Google Keyword Planner, it is equally as successful to piggyback your competitors’ highest ranking keywords.
The way to do this is to search for a website selling similar content and services to you. For us, we have used the example of Clicky Media, a similar UK based digital marketing agency.
After finding a competitor, type their website URL into SEMRush to find their highest ranking keywords.
Despite the fact that many keywords will include their brand name which is to be ignored, some keywords may be low competition meaning they are easier to rank for. The competition may be relying on other methods, such as backlinks, to secure top positions. It will, therefore, be easy for you to get your ‘SEO a-game’ on and get ahead with perfect on-page optimization.
3. Think geographically!
For potential customers, your location is probably one of the most important factors in their search requirements. They want a business or service that is accessible and convenient.
For that reason, local optimization is a must for any business looking to attract sales from local customers. However, for most companies, optimizing for local search offers the ability to scale their business to new markets.
The first way to achieve local optimization is to get listed on Google My Business. Most credible businesses are already listed and so signing up will automatically add authority to your site. It also gives you the option to add essential details, such as your opening hours, services, reviews, social posts and more.
We like to structure main information in a Name, Address, Phone Number (NAP) structure, which you should always keep consistent when adding your business to further directories.
If you want to go one step further in your efforts to optimize for local search, you could even create location pages to capture local keyword searches. Adding location pages for various locations will help scale your business and your customer base significantly.
Use local-based keywords, such as:
‘Yorkshire Digital Marketing Agency’ or ‘Marketing Agency Yorkshire.’
4. Give your dated content a new lease of life!
Let’s say one of your older blog posts has miraculously started bringing in traffic to your site because it is ranking at the top of the search results. This is the perfect opportunity for you to repurpose this page and bring in some new customers.
Here are three simple steps you should consider:
- Add some new images to the post or restructure your content.
- Insert a ‘call to action’ button, which can, in turn, collect data (name, phone number, email address, etc.) from prospective clients.
- Share your post externally on social media, on guest posts and in newsletters.
5. Sign up to clickfunnels
We know this isn’t an SEO tactic exactly. But it is a revolutionary marketing tactic that deserves a mention!
The main purpose of a funnel is to build trust with potential clients through exclusive offers, whilst at the same time not appearing as if you are only there to sell.
The first stage in funnel marketing is to offer a free resource. For example, when selling marketing services you may offer a free eBook to clients. “100 Marketing Secrets That Will Change Your Life.” It’s an offer you simply can’t refuse. And because people have to enter their details to download the eBook, you can capture their details at the same time.
From there, you have their information and can use this to remarket to them with whatever you want – exciting!
After you have gained their trust, it is then possible to go for a sale. After all, it is estimated that people typically have to see your brand mentioned seven times before making a purchase.
From here, you are free to remarket to them with an offer, which should include a bundle rather than one single product. This is called an upsell.
Remember to never just rely on a marketing funnel, instead of a website. Both work in parallel to draw in clients. The more channels you have to bring in leads and increased brand awareness, the better.
